We loved Anomaly: Warzone Earth’s unique take on the tower-defence genre in our review, and we’re ecstatic to hear about a sequel coming to the Mac App Store soon. Following the events from the main game, Earth has been overrun alien machines and humankind is on the verge of extinction. It seems that humans are now the oppressors, with the aliens defending their infested planet that’s barely recognisable from the Earth that was once ours.
Anomaly 2 not only includes a whole new narrative to the series, but also new gameplay mechanics in the form of new alien constructions. Players also have the ability to morph their units on the fly, turning them from long-range howitzers to short-range rocket-launchers, adding another layer to the reverse tower-defence gameplay.
Anomaly 2 is definitely planned for the Mac App Store, and will hopefully release on launch day with the PC and Steam version, although 11 bit studios cannot make any promises for the moment. At any rate, expect to Anomaly 2 hit the Mac App Store sometime in Q2 (April, May, June).
