F1 2012 Coming to the Mac App Store Later This Year

Published on October 25, 2012, by in All, News.

Ever wanted to hop into an F1 car and take it for a spin on your Mac? Well, grab a copy of Virtual Grand Prix 2 from 2004 and enjoy the ride. Low-res textures? Nah, they were overrated anyway. Pathetic AI? Forget about them, it’s just you and the tarmac, baby. Flat trees and bushes? You won’t be caring much about them anymore once you’re a smashed up wreck on the side of the road.

The truth is, the Mac hasn’t seen an F1 simulator since the early 19th Century. Thankfully, the guys over at Feral Interactive have promised to put a stop to this abomination by releasing F1 2012 on the Mac App Store ‘later this year’.

F1 2012 is the latest creation from Codemasters, centred around getting into some of the fastest cars in the world and racing them. It was originally released only last month for PC, with the Mac version including the full Career Mode, Season Challenge, Champions Mode and split-screen, LAN and online multiplayer from the PC release.

Once again, Feral are keeping quiet over the release date and system requirements of F1 2012, so we shall have to wait until closer to Christmas to find out all the juicy details. In the meantime, salivate over this trailer detailing some of the awesome new features you probably won’t get in Virtual Grand Prix 2.
