If you’re into the freemium scene, then you are most probably familiar with Pocket Planes, a free airline simulator where you manage a fleet of planes and transport people and cargo to different cities around the world. If you haven’t yet checked it out, you can do so here. Today NimbleBit, the guys behind Pocket Planes, have released their second Mac title; NimbleQuest.
Unlike the majority of NimbleBit’s other titles, NimbleQuest doesn’t rely on timers to keep the player hooked. Instead, NimbleQuest is an imaginative take on the classic Snake formula. You lead a line of units, ranging from a knight, to a mage, to a goblin, which you join your line as you fight through the arena-style levels, battling off the foes that infest them. You must collect crystals and try get as far through each level as possible. It’s a interesting concept that has a lot of potential to be very addicting.
Another side to the game is the arena. This adds a social component to NimbleQuest, and allows players to team up and form a guild. By getting kills in the arena, you can earn points towards your guild’s score with the aim of getting your guild the highest on the leaderboard. It’s an interesting mechanic that takes the game out of its purely single-player state and into the online competitive world.
