Review
Vitrun is a nice little ball runner with several clever obstacles, including magnets, blocks, swinging hammers and cliffs. Yet the game seems conflicted as to whether it wants to focus on speed or skill, making it a lackluster experience as a result.
This bite-sized game features fitting electronic music, dark and cool looking graphics, and, unfortunately, an unnecessary countdown timer for each level.
Checkpoints save your progress in a level but they do not save your time. This means that if you plummet off the side of the path, when you go back to the checkpoint it still counts down from the time of the ball’s death. This puts into question the point of these checkpoints if you’re not going to be able to beat a competitive timer anyway. It seems as if Vitrun can’t choose between being a racer, or a skill-based game.
The camera is very slow to react to sharp turns, meaning that you can be looking at your ball from the side, making controlling the thing even harder.
Vitrun certainly has potential to be a very good ball-rolling title. But the game’s focus, or lack of it, means it drops the ball (excuse the pun) therefore landing it as distinctly average.
